WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Welcome to The Refuge. We are so pleased you are considering coming along and would love to see you and welcome you in person soon.

Here is some info to help you know what happens.

What can I expect when I arrive?

You will be greeted by friendly smiling faces as you approach the hall, pointed in the right direction, and welcomed near the door.

There is onsite parking at the school. Entry is almost opposite Milestones Childcare centre.

What should I wear?

A tux or 3-piece suit is not the norm at The Refuge so please wear whatever you are comfortable in.

What can I expect in the service?

We enjoy a relaxed contemporary style of gathering, beginning, and ending with singing, including Bible reading, prayer, and most of all hearing God’s Word explained to us in clear everyday language. Our service runs for about an hour and a half.

Kids and Youth programs run during the gathering throughout school terms, however there is a Parents and Littlies room that happens all year round.

We value connecting with one another and do this by breaking during the gathering to enjoy conversations over a hot or cold drink. We have been told our baristas make one of the best coffees around!

IN THE COMMUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITY

Are you safe & secure?

We take the safety of your children and youth seriously. All our Kids and Youth leaders have current Working with Children Checks and have completed Creating Safe Spaces training.

All other volunteers have been screened for involvement in their roles.

Our Pastoral Staff have completed a National Police Check and are required to accept and abide by the Code of Conduct from the Baptist Association of NSW & ACT.

What about teaching?

At The Refuge we aim to keep “the main thing, the main thing”, and as such our focus is the Bible – the Word of God. This comes through in all we do, especially our teaching on Sunday and in our mid-week Connect Groups.

We value biblical teaching that keeps biblical truth central in clear everyday language helping us to grow and live faithfully as followers of Jesus Christ.

The “Bible Talks” from our Sunday gatherings are freely available to watch here.

What do you teach regarding giving?

We believe, from 2 Corinthians 9:7 in the Bible, that Christians should be generous and give cheerfully towards the work of the local church without compulsion, and as they have decided in their hearts.

Will I be asked for money?

No, however as Christians it is our privilege to give to God’s work through our local Church. We encourage our Refuge Family to setup regular giving online, however anyone is welcome to give via the box at the drinks table at a Sunday gathering.
